Wow

I have visited steak houses since I was little, I grew up going to the western sizzler. In my own little 8 year old brain I was thinking I've made it in life when my parents brought me there. Well since then I've come to realize that it was the "Denny's of steakhouses" and my tastebuds have grown up with me. I've had steak all over the world and ofcourse the USA. I've had tomahawk steaks at various restaurants including Omaha and if you know anything about Omaha, Nebraska they have some good steak houses. (No, I'm not from there)
I only bought steak from restaurants and local butchers/grocery stores to make at home. Agridime was my first experience buying steak and having it shipped to my house. So, a tomahawk should definitely be my first purchase, go big or go home, right? When the delivery arrived, I immediately put the steaks in the deep freezer and forgot about it for a couple of months. I went digging in my deep freezer a week ago and finally pulled them out and had them defrost. I covered them in salt after thawing and let them sit in the fridge for about 6 hours then covered in fresh ground pepper and let them get to room temperature. After that I seared the steaks on all sides on the stove in a cast iron skillet then finished the cooking until medium rare in the oven. Holy moly! I've never had a steak taste THIS good in my entire life. I made potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach from scratch as my sides to accompany the steak. I made it for my partner and my 17 & 18 year old sons. They are both over 6 feet and weigh 170 & 190 pounds. My boys stopped eating their steak and after a few bites they paused and said what I was thinking. "This is the best steak I've ever had in my entire life." Granted they are still young but even in my 40 plus years of eating steak this held true. They both finished the steak in its entirety because they didn't want to have leftovers because they were afraid it "wouldn't taste this good tomorrow." I couldn't finish my steak, in fact I could only finish about 1/4 of it with eating the sides and saved it for later. I had it a couple of days later and reheated it in the microwave. My boys were right when it wasn't that same exact freshness as the first bite when it came out of the oven when I first made it but it was still just as delicious reheated. I regret nothing except I should have bought more than just 4 tomahawks so here I am back on the website to buy more so my son can have one more homecooked steak before going off to college.

Beyond Expectations

So far I have grilled 2 of these amazing monsters to a perfect medium rare. They are so tender and tasty, I use sale/pepper before grilling, sear them off at the end and pour a mixture of unsalted butter/garlic/fresh rosemary over them. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm perfection, can't go wrong!!! Will definitely order more of these.
